Getting started
What is Lumshot?
A desktop screenshot and screen recording tool. Capture your screen, add context, and continue into sharing, OCR, supported AI conversations, or Jira.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows 10 (64-bit) or later and macOS 12 Monterey or later. Linux is in development and coming soon.
Do I need an account?
No account is required to use Lumshot. Pro is activated with a license key. Purchase recovery uses an email verification code.
Does it work offline?
Screenshot capture, annotation, OCR, and Smart Redaction run on your device. Sending content to AI, Jira, or another online service needs that service to be available.

Can I capture a long page?
Yes. Pro includes scrolling capture for webpages, documents, and conversations beyond the visible screen.
How does AI Auto Paste work?
Open a supported AI conversation and capture your screen. Lumshot detects the workflow and adds the screenshot automatically. Then add your prompt.
Which AI applications are supported?
ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Gemini, and GitHub Copilot are listed in the current guide.
Can I create a Jira issue?
With Pro, capture the problem, annotate it, review the screenshot and issue details, and create a Jira issue with the visual context included.
Privacy & sharing
Where are OCR and redaction processed?
Both run locally on your device. Your capture is not uploaded to Lumshot servers for those operations.
Do other apps receive my screenshots?
When you intentionally share with an AI app, Jira, or another destination, that service receives the content needed for the action. Review private information before sharing.
Does redaction need a review?
Yes. Review the detected sensitive information and the rest of the image, then apply protection before sending the capture.
Pricing & licenses
Is there a free plan?
Free includes unlimited screenshots and annotations, clipboard and drag-and-drop sharing, PNG/JPG exports, and lifetime updates. Captures include a watermark.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase. The current early bird price is $29 USD, regularly $69 USD.
How do I recover my license?
Open License Manager and use the email from your purchase. A six-digit code confirms access to the inbox before your purchase details are shown.
Can I move to another device?
Install Lumshot on the new device and activate with the same key. Use the billing portal to remove an old device if you need a free seat.
Troubleshooting
Lumshot won’t open after installation. What next?
Restart after installation and check whether your antivirus quarantined the app. If the problem continues, contact support with your OS and Lumshot version.
A shortcut isn’t working. What should I check?
Check your shortcut configuration and whether another application is using the same combination. The shortcut guide lists capture and editing commands.
