AI Auto Paste
Screenshot to Claude.
Keep the context close.
Bring a screenshot of a document or interface into a supported Claude conversation with Lumshot AI Auto Paste. Select the relevant context, check the image and tell Claude what you want to understand.
Available on Windows 10 (64-bit) or later and macOS 12 or later. AI Auto Paste is a Pro feature; Linux is in development.
Review this settings screen for unclear wording. The user is trying to change notification preferences; explain which labels need more context.
How to paste a screenshot into Claude
- Open the supported Claude conversation you want to use.
- Choose a capture area that excludes private or unrelated information.
- Capture it with Lumshot. AI Auto Paste detects the workflow and adds the image.
- Confirm the attachment, add your prompt and continue the conversation.
Read the AI Auto Paste setup guide for the shared workflow and shortcut guidance. Focus behavior and supported app versions are not fully specified; check the result in your particular conversation.
A Claude screenshot workflow for visual review
Use a screenshot when the layout and wording belong together. For a settings screen, describe the user’s goal and ask which labels may be confusing. For a document, capture the relevant section and explain the audience and the question you need answered.
Lumshot moves the image into the conversation. Claude supplies the analysis. Review its suggestions against the original source before relying on them.
Give Claude enough context to be useful
Review a document section
Keep the heading and related paragraph together. Ask for an explanation of the visible passage and supply any missing definitions. Use local OCR when you need editable text rather than an image, then check the extracted result.
Discuss a design decision
Capture the controls involved in one task and explain the intended outcome. A screenshot is a static reference; it does not show keyboard behavior, loading states or the full interaction. Add those observations in your prompt.
Share the result with your team
Turn reviewed feedback into a concise note and an annotated screenshot. If the discussion identifies a reproducible bug, use the visual bug reporting workflow to preserve the steps and expected behavior.
For coding inside Cursor, see the separate screenshot to Cursor workflow. Choose the destination that matches where you are already working.
Choose what you share with AI
The chosen AI service receives the screenshot you send. Capture only what it needs. Lumshot’s Smart Redaction processes detection locally, but you must still review the full image before sharing. For sensitive material, prepare and inspect a capture first, then attach it manually through the clipboard or file workflow.
Questions before you start
Does this confirm support for Claude Code?
Lumshot lists Claude as a supported AI Auto Paste application. The public guide does not establish image handling in every terminal, Claude Code environment or app version; this page covers a supported conversation workflow.
What if the image does not appear?
Check that your Pro license is active and a supported conversation is open. Copy or export the screenshot and attach it manually where supported. If the problem persists, contact support with your operating system, Lumshot version and Claude version.
